CALLING HIM A RESULTS-ORIENTED LEADER, WEYMOUTH MAYOR SUE KAY ENDORSES BILL KEATING IN 10th CONGRESSIONAL DEMOCRATIC PRIMARY

Kay joins a growing list of groups and leaders to back Keating in the open seat race

(Weymouth) - Citing his ability to bring change to Washington and deliver results, Weymouth Mayor Sue Kay endorsed Bill Keating in Massachusetts' 10th Congressional District Democratic primary. Mayor Kay said she has seen firsthand the positive impact Keating has had on Weymouth as Norfolk District Attorney, and believes he’s the only candidate in this race who will be able to shake things up and change the way Congress is doing business. Weymouth is one of the largest communities and a key Democratic stronghold in the 10th District.

“Weymouth and this district need jobs, and I know that Bill Keating will make job creation his top priority,” said Mayor Kay. “Bill is ready to roll up his sleeves and work with me to revitalize Weymouth Landing. He will help get our small businesses the loans and tax credits they need to be successful and he’ll fight to get our unemployed citizens back on their feet.”

Mayor Kay continued, saying “we have a unique opportunity to create thousands of jobs here in Weymouth and throughout the South Shore by developing SouthField at the former South Weymouth Naval Air Station property. Congressman Delahunt has worked hard on the SouthField project and I know Bill Keating will help guide it to a successful conclusion. There is no one better than Bill Keating to get that done. Bill has taken on tough fights and won them before, and he’ll do it again in Washington.”

Southfield is located on 1,000 acres at the former South Weymouth Naval Air Station. The Smart Growth project it is expected to generate over 6,000 construction jobs and up to 4,000 permanent jobs on site.

“I am thankful for Mayor Kay’s support and I’ll work hard to make sure that Congress has its priorities straight if I go to Washington,” said Keating.

“Towns like Weymouth have been hit hard by the economic downturn, yet there is light at the end of the tunnel. I understand how vital the SouthField economic development project is as a source of new jobs and revenue for the town of Weymouth and the entire South Shore, and I’ll fight to ensure its success.”

“As District Attorney I’ve worked with local leaders and community members to keep Weymouth families safe and secure. If elected to Congress, my top priorities will be to keep our families safe and create good paying jobs that get people back to work.”
